Tim does it twice in Portugal
Carolina Sismeiro reports that Millionaire will open for dEUS on their two Portuguese dates (Lisboa on June 22 and Porto the day after). Carolina's "secure information is a girl [she knows] who apparently went to talk with Tim, after [Millionaire's Monday] gig".
Ticket sales will start on May 1 for the Nighttown gig on June 26.

Rotterdam date confirmed
dEUS are indeed going to play at Nighttown, not on June 24 but two days later (it's a long way from Lisboa to the Netherlands, indeed). Tickets will go on sale next Monday at Nighttown and tomorrow at the usual presale places.
News from Tom
A few hours ago I had a really pleasant chat with Tom Barman at Le Botanique (M83, rinôçérôse & Télépopmusik played tonight), I'll skip the details and go straight to the point : dEUS will play at Paradiso Amsterdam on Wednesday, June 25 (to be confirmed - it's hard to see how the tour bus could drive from Lisboa to Amsterdam in such a short time) & the day before in Rotterdam, probably at Nighttown. Sonic Youth fans, rejoice: they will not be headlined against dEUS at Rock Werchter, dEUS will play right after SY.
We also talked about :
- Magnus : on Sunday Tom & CJ Bolland did a DJ-set after the Vive La Fête gig *somewhere* in Antwerp (I didn't bother to ask Tom where it was), the place was way too big, there'd been virtually no advertising for the event & Tom & CJ only started playing at 5 am. More interestingly, the Magnus album is now being mixed, it will be released in September or October. There are 13 songs (including Luxury & Rock Chick) which Tom describes as "silly uptempo songs about girls & beer", over 10 musicians were involved including Peter Vermeersch & Guy Van Nueten (and Mauro Pawlowski ?) but Tom doesn't think he'll tour with Magnus.
- Vive La Fête : apparently, they're Karl Lagerfeld's new protégés. He drives them everywhere, he's crazy about Els Pynoo, Danny wore Lagerfeld leather during his Antwerp gig ... The famous fashion designer even wanted Vive La Fête to come with him to one of his défilés in Tokyo, but Danny couldn't do it because he's supposed to play with dEUS by then. Lagerfeld actually rescheduled his show in order for Vive La Fête to play at the event!
- Anyway The Wind Blows (formerly known as Vrijdag, Vrijdagavond) : Tom now has all funds needed for his film project. He'll start shooting in the weeks following the short dEUS tour. The film's main language will be Dutch, but French and English will be heard as well. Among others, Tom secured subsidies from the French Community, the Flemish Community and the European Commission (he says about the latter that they've proved to be "fantastic" people).
- Random stuff: he hates Faithless and Blur, and thinks Luke Slater's latest album is "horrible". He loved M83's performance, he compared them to an electronic kind of Velvet Underground. He can't wait for the new Grandaddy album, and can't believe Grandaddy turned down David Bowie's invitation to play at the Meltdown Festival, over which he presides this year. And Tom's still the friendliest musician I've ever met.

Guy's new project
Guy Van Nueten, famous here for playing the piano during Tom's recent acoustic concerts, wrote to me yesterday about his recent project called Zon & Zero :
hello,
my name is guy van nueten and you will probably know me as tom barman's pianoplayer.
I write music and play keyboards in a lot of projects, among them is a new
band called zon & zero (www.zonandzero.be)
We have made a link in this website to yours, and wanted to ask if you could do the same.
thanks, guy
Zon&Zero (i.e. Guy Van Nueten & Jef Mercelis) played their first gig at De Nachten last year, and only 3 concerts since (one in Leuven & the rest in ... the Canary Islands). You can download a pretty nice home-recorded song called Heart on the songs page of their website, and if you like it, why not go check them on stage on May 17 at Zaal België in Hasselt?
And to make this post an ode to Guy, here's his résumé: he played the synths on Everybody's Weird, he plays in a new band called Sukilove, he's on stage with Daan (Stuyven from Dead Man Ray) & also play-s/-ed with Mitsoobishy Jacson. And from 92 to 96 he fronted a band called The Sands. I think that's it.

CyberTom & CyberMauro
The Ancienne Belgique website has just announced the premiere of Gorki's new 'Vooruitgang' tour on October 10. It will be a very special tour, performances rather than regular concerts, with "virtual" guests. Those guests (various Flemish artists) won't physically be there, but video recordings of their contribution to 'Vooruitgang' will be projected on stage. And guess who's coming to virtual dinner? Messieurs Tom Barman et Mauro 'Mauro' Pawlowski (ex-Evil Superstars, ex-Mitsoobishy Jacson, ex- Mauro & The Infernos), plus the girls from Laïs and I have no clue about the others. 'Vooruitgang' will also be the title of Gorki's new album (in 98 Tom sang & played some instruments on their 'Ik ben aanwezig' album).

Community overflow
There were some warning signs a few weeks ago: due to excessive bandwidth consumption, Arthur's webhost has unilaterally taken the message board down.
Please note: I've been forced to take The I Suffer Rock community offline by my current webhost (well actually he took it offline without prior warning) due to the high amount of bandwidth it was using. I'm trying to find a solution. If you'd like to support or possibly sponsor the community, please get in touch with support@isufferrock.com! I'll try and discuss this issue in more detail in a few days time
This really sucks; if you like the board, please give Arthur a hand.

New tour dates !
Arthur reports that Eric Didden (dEUS tour manager) confirmed on the official Millionaire website that Tim Vanhamel will again join dEUS for their "quick summer blitz", including one or two warming-up shows in the Netherlands. The exact date & location of the Dutch gig(s) is still unknown, but they will take place before the "grand finale" in Werchter.
