This
gig was broadcast on Swedish radio P3, with some bits from an interview
with Tom. The presenter talks (in Swedish, so I'm not sure I got
it all right) about the history of dEUS, mentions the tensions that
led to Stef's departure, and then says that Tom is looking forward
to a break.
"It's
necessary to, once in a while, just to take a break from that and
... so everybody can go their way. Maybe some people want to study,
Craig got married, Klaas wants to go on a long holiday with his
girlfriend ... you know, I mean, we're normal people. Most of us
have girlfriends and it's very hard to keep those relationships
alive when we're on tour. The hard thing is to keep a balance between
going for it and trying to be a normal person, because you're not
a normal person when you tour all the time. I mean, you are
not a normal person, you're just part of a circus."
Another
bit before the encore : the presenter says that dEUS have just played
in front of the whole of Sweden thanks to P3 Live ("låtarna
heter Instant Crash, .."), then that Tom was very happy
to be able to do a Swedish festival, since that allowed dEUS to
reach a new audience :
"I
said to you that nobody knows us in Sweden, which is not far from
the truth, because, when we played here, we played for 400 people,
which is fine for me. But today, we played for 3,000 people. I saw
some sceptical faces in the beginning - I didn't see them at the
end. And that, when you feel as a band that you're, like, really
conquering some new people, people that might as well have liked
you from the very beginning, but just didn't have the channels to
reach you. That's what I've always thought dEUS was about : okay,
we don't make easy music - I don't think we make difficult music
either."
