REVIEW
BY JESSICA BODE
dEUS
played in the tent after Built to Spill. Craig was actually watching
them in the small room for V.I.P.s and the security between stage
and fans. He seemed to enjoy them, singing along during "Car".
The people also liked them clapping and swinging along. It was a
nice and relaxed atmosphere. But when it was time for the dEUS-show
things changed... It got really hot and you couldn´t move
, more and more people joining the tent. If you had been there,
you wouldn´t have believed that this was the same place as
some minutes ago during Built to Spill. The security guys also got
really nervous ( and they were right as you could see later - i
never had so many people surfing on top of my head actually). Before
dEUS started it must already have been 100 degrees in there. But
when they enterd it got even worse.
They all looked pretty good & relaxed, as if they had returned
from a summer holiday or something. Klaas looked pretty drunk the
whole time and Tommy might have been, too. Anyway, they all seemed
to need a shave (´cept for Tim of urse). Tom said >>hello<<
to their >>German fans<< & said something ´bout
the heat (you could tell that he was in a good mood immediately)
and they started off with "Roses".Craig had to sing some
parts on his own ´cause Tom was communicating with the sound
engineers as usual (you know, he always has to complain), but they
still sounded good! I liked Craig´s voice. After "Freaks"
Tom poured a bottle of water over his head (>> gonna take
a shower!<<) and then announced the sad song , of course "Magdalena".
From all the concerts I´ve seen I liked Klaas best at this
one. Sometimes he looks so pissed but this afternoon he seemed nice
and enthusiastic. He played the violin more intensely than usual.
It was great. "Fell off the floor" really made them go
mad. Tim doing everything with his guitar but play ( also as usual..I
wonder whether it is plugged in at all), Craig & Danny having
a chat and laughing and Tom playing guitar while he was really on
´the floor´.But it didn´t seem like they were
pretending to have fun, they were really full of life and the tent
was almost burning!! When Tom sang >> and keep breathing<<
(in "Freaks") he pointed at the people in the first rows
(´cause they were really close to suffocating) and later poured
another bottle of water over their heads. NICE.
One time Tom almost couldn´t get up from the floor and he
was tumbling a lot. Anyway, when he finally made it and tried to
find back to himself he went >>JESUS CHRIST!!<< It was
a good expression to sum the concert up, I guess.
>>You´re probably right...<< he said and people
went mad ´cause "Instant Street" was of course next.
Then they left & a few minutes passed until Klaas finally returned.
I guess they had some discussion with the organizers ´cause
Klaas said : >>We have time for one more song<<. "Turnpike"
was on. In the end Tom sang some lines from Whitney Houston´s
"It´s not right but it´s o.k." mixing it with
his own lyrics. GREAT! While "Turnpike" was still on,
Danny started off Eisbär" & everybody knew that they
were not allowed to do so. They were already ´over their limit´,
but it was the best party I can imagine. EVERYBODY was singing along.
When they left, it seemed that there had been an earthquake or something.
