REVIEW BY JESSICA BODE

The gig´s completely sold out. Tom´s talking to people at the entrance almost until the very last moment, but at 20.45pm they enter the stage. There`s a loud jubilation but dEUS play no attention. no " hello" or anything...very quietly they start off.. >> my little dreamone, you´re o.k.?..<< and that´s enough to make everybody shut up and catch breath. Tom seems really seriously into it & doesn´t open his eyes for a single time. It is clear from the beginning that this is not going to be their wildest or ´funniest´ concert. After "little A." tom briefly welcomes people and later he´s fooling around, doing his typical butt-shake, while klaas is dancing along ,too and Craig & Danny talk a lot while they are playing. The band seems to be good-mooded, but still very introverted. Someone in the audience shouts " everybody´s weird" , they all look at each other and tom says >> you know what you are..<< and Sandra pardo´s voice is on " eveybody´s weird".. they play a very good version of it. But within a second the mood totally changes as Tom announces the song >>very appropriately called..aah..magdalena..<< and then asks the "light guy" to dim the light. It has a very sad feel to it. I don´t dare move - a feeling that stays on during "sister dew" & "roses". "Freaks" is great. Craig messes up with his part a little - as he always does when it comes to singing >> you placed your frown..<< and after that dEUS leave but of course return for "turnpike". Klaas announces the song as usual with his typical kind of dancing. Danny joins late and in the end tom improvises a lot (great!) and dances crazily. the song goes on for at least 10min, I guess. "magic hour" is a first highlight for tonight ´cause it´s real magic - especially at those moments: >> pushed it awayyyyyyyyy...<< and when Craig sings >>hey maybe should we ask it could..<< !! I get carried away. It´s a 2pity "let´s see.. " sounds so bad, but the microphone-problems suck. Aferwards a little quiz is going on, tom saing: >> we have a very old song for you now << and people go "hotellounge!" . >>no, that´s not the one!<< . "jigsaw you!" NO!<< , "via!" >>NO!<< (it´s Tommy smilin´ for the first time tonight) and someone goes "serpentine!": >YES!!<<everybody´s laughing and he: >>now you´ve lost one million deutsch >>marks!<< after "serpentine" they leave again but return ´cause people of berlin wouldn´t stop screaming. Tom finally finds back to his typical way of jiving around, telling that they have a deal within the band: >>if danny fucks up with the next song, he owes us 1000 deutsch marks!<< and >>he invites everybody to eat some japanese food with them. The climax is yet to come and it´s "one advice Space". In the finale there are 3 voices and Tim almost messes it up ´cause his voice is so quiet, you can´t hear him, but craig is great! The music fades, there´s just a soft guitar & Craig´s voice >> take us away <<..and then all of a sudden tom starts off (>>holly came from miami..<<) Lou Reed´s "walk on the wildside".when he goes on >> and the coloured girls go: do do do do do..<< everybody´s clapping and singing along. from now on there couldn´t be a moment greater & closer between the band & audience. They play "sam" & "Eisbär". now they seem to have a real good time, laughing and dancing on tage. but it´s already farewell, off they go..this night has been an example how important the encore can be. to me it was the ´real´ concert ( and fot dEUS seemingly, too) tonight they´ve blown everybody away!
