[22FEB1999] RUST, Copenhagen All pictures by Janno Jansen
Review The concert felt a lot like the mini acoustic tour Tom & Craig did in 1997, apart from the crowd which was pretty ... viking. People in front sitting in total silence and heavy drinkers playing baby soccer at the back of the room. Tom was really irritated because of the chitchatting. There was no interaction between the musicians and the audience, apart from Tom's biddings. So much for the atmosphere. I liked the songs a lot, though I wanted more dEUS and less covers - a feeling of déjà-vu. Sister Dew is a brilliant new song, but it seemed difficult to play it properly without all the electric machinery. After Roses, they played the new single Instant Street which didn't cause lots of reactions in the audience - it's #1 in Belgium but one can hardly find the CD in Denmark. Some people compare that song to Little Arithmetics -no way, this song is very quiet. I couldn't heat on Magdalena, another new song. Tom didn't appear to be satisfied either - as he put it himself, "normally, when the whole band plays that song, it goes bang at the end". God of Small Things (Magic Hour on the new album), on the other hand, was imo the highlight of the show.
