Review
Undoubtedly the best dEUS concert I ever saw. Tom Barman still refers
to this gig in interviews (eg. Oor 1999) as one of his best shows
ever. Noone expected dEUS to play another gig in Belgium that year,
because they allready did 2 shows in the AB and Rock Torhout/Werchter.
Luckely there was 'Les Nuits Botanique' in Brussels. Bé Plouvier opened
the night, but wasn't very impressive. Evil Superstars just finished
their second album and their show was more a try-out gig, but excellent
it was! I remember Mauro trying to speak French, but that wasn't such
a good idea. When a roadie came onstage, he tried to explain that
he likes to play cards with the guy, saying something like "Euh, ça
mon ami et euh moi jouer les cartes avec euuh ami" C.R.A.Z.Y.-B.A.B.Y.
The venue was a rather small tent, completely sold out…and getting
really hot.
dEUS
kicked of with a very loud SUdS&SOdA and the rest is History. No musical
mistakes, great 'ambiance' and beautiful versions of Gimme The Heat
and Disappointed In The Sun, with just Tom singing and Piet playing
piano. Highlight of the show: Sam Louwyck and his dancers during Turnpike
(with Danny playing some trumpet).
