ALBUM INFO
The 5th dEUS album was recorded at the Vantage Point studio, the band's own studio in Antwerp. The recording & mixing process only took 3 months, a record by dEUS standards.
A song called Smokers Reflect was already announced for the previous album, but didn't make it to the final tracklist.

Here's what Tom had to say about the album when he announced the first details:
Just a word from me to tell you that our record Vantage Point is finished, it was recorded in Antwerp in our brand new studio by the same name. [...]
Some songs are loud and groovy, others, like
'Smokers Reflect' and 'Eternal Woman' are as melody-driven as you've ever heard us. We experimented a lot with the voices so expect some fucked up Gregorian chants over Stef's and Alan's rhythm-section. We also welcomed some distinguished guests. There's Lies Lorquet from Mintzkov, who sings as beautifully and understated as ever. We're all secretly in love with her. Then there's Guy Garvey from Elbow, who sent his vocal straight from the Massive Attack studio where he was working and turned 'The Vanishing Of Maria Schneider' into and old-world, super-romantic Technicolor lovesong. And last but not least, there's Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife, who flew from Stockholm to guest on 'Slow'. She's got a unique voice and we're all really proud she delivered so passionately.

The drawings and paintings used for Vantage Point and its singles are the work of Michaël Borremans, a Belgian artist. In a March 2008 interview with Flemish newsweekly "Knack", he talked about the drawing used as the cover of the album.

Called "Two Circles", the drawing is part of a series entitled "The Good Ingredients". Two groups of people are lying on the floor, their bodies arranged in two circles. They are in a parking lot, and 3 armed men are watching them. "Tom Barman took to that drawing instanstly. You can see those two circles as an horizontal eight, the symbol of infinity. There is an undercurrent of coercition, and of terror too. With those armed men, those people look like hostages lying on the ground. It is some sort of forced choreography."

Michaël Borremans usually refuses such requests. But when asked to provide art for the new dEUS album, he felt "honored" and was "delighted" to suggest a drawing after hearing the album. Borremans is one of the most successful Belgian contemporary artists.
