JDK: Do you like this macho music by Dog Eat Dog?
SKC: Uh, no
JDK: No..., uh, why not?
SKC: Ummm, uh I just don't like it
JDK: It's not your kind of music?
SKC: No
JDK: But it looks good on stage, doesn't it?
SKC: Uh, sorry, I didn't pay attention
JDK: Hahaha
SKC: Hahaha JDK: Doesn't matter Stef. Stef, how did it go tonight, at the start of the evening, with dEUS in the Alpha tent?
SKC: Uh, OK I guess.
JDK: Was it groovy, did it go all right?
SKC: Yeah.
JDK: Kind of a busy weekend for you, eh? Cause you played Reading yesterday.
SKC: yes.
JDK: That was one of the highlights of dEUS' existence, I heard.
SKC: yes.
JDK: Tell us a bit more about it.
SKC: Well, there's nothing much to say, really, just an... er, exceptionally pleasant get together of, er... well, there was a lot of warmth between us and the audience.
JDK: Ummm. You were playing here this afternoon. It was a bit of an unpleasant day, because you said goodbye to your guitarist Rudi today.
SKC: Yes, it's not a painful goodbye. It's, er... Rudi just wants to go his own way, and we will continue, well, I will continue to play with him in other bands. It's not like we're truly breaking up, we will continue to play with him in a way. And we share a house, so I will see him around.
JDK: We'll talk about your other band, Moondog Jr, in a minute, but first dEUSKC: I said it was an unpleasant day, but also a relief on the other hand, because you are going to record a new album, aren't you?
SKC: yes, we will tour for 2 months, two and a half, with Moondog Jr. and then er, then we'll rehearse with dEUS for one and a half months, just er, work on some songs that we've had for a while, that we've been playing live for a while, explore them, and then er, we'll record them.
JDK: Do you feel it has taken too long before you could go into the studio to record a new album?
SKC: No, I don't think so, not for dEUS themselves. Maybe the people feel differently than we do, because everybody in dEUS is working on other things, working on their own things, with other people, so we're always recording and fooling around, so it isn't, we never really stagnated, like a sheep or something.
JDK: There was a rumour going around that after today, dEUS would split up, but that's bullshit.
SKC: That's bullshit.
JDK: There's only one word for it. About Moondog Jr., your other band. You will be bringing out an album soon, beginning of October.
SKC: yes
JDK: Is that a side of you that you can't express in dEUS? D: Yes, well, that's always a heavy question. But that band existed before dEUS did, I already played with those people, Arie - the drummer - in particular, and with Thomas and Tom. It's been about three years already as well. It isn't really something new, it's the first time we get the chance to film a record in more countries than just Belgium. It's not really a new thing, well, if you ask: Is that a side of you that you can't express in dEUS... Tom's been asked that question about his group and Rudi about his. It's not. It's just things that were there. Just things that we do.
JDK: What's the most attractive side of Moondog Jr.
SKC: Er, that it's very quiet, and that you can talk while we're playing, without microphones, and that you can sing without a microphone.
JDK: What's the most attractive side of dEUS?
SKC: It's very surprising, the results we get sometimes, the playing together is very surprising, yes, just the fact that it's always a surprise.
JDK: Yes.
SKC: Despite the fact that there are things that put me off, in the end it always very pleasant playing with those people

[Worst Case Scenario and Twenty Something are played]

JDK: That was your new song Twenty Something. Is that what the new album should sound like, or have you no idea what way it has to go. SKC: Yes we do have some idea, it's one of the songs, but er, it's really the first time I hear it myself, recorded that is, but in any case, the bass will be replaced by a tuba.
JDK: Oh really?
SKC: Well, I don't know if it will sound right.
JDK: What did you think... cause this is the first time you're hearing this, and you are listening attentively... what goes through your mind: are you going: 'yeah, there's a mistake there'
SKC: yes, I don't know, maybe it's..., well it hasn't been mixed, it's just... I find it rather sloppy and messy...
JDK: yes, yes
SKC: and it sounds uninteresting.
JDK: You were listening to Worst Case Scenerio very carefully and what strikes me when I see you play, for the umpteenth time, and seeing you.. you always listen back to things, or you play... you're still so sensitive, so attentive to things. I always think, if you play stuff 2, 3, 4 times and have been going around for 5 years and play all those festivals, 'well, I know that song by now'... that you lose that sensitivity and that interest.
SKC: Yes, but every version we play is different, I mean, you don't always get the chance, it doesn't happen very often that we can listen to a song that we've just played again. It's unique, well, not unique, but it's rare. It's rather interesting to hear that mess on stage. I think sometimes we are a bit too flippant about our accomplishments as musicians.
JDK: You are always very critical about your music.
SKC: Yes, that's very important.
JDK: I close off now, Stef, thank you very much for coming and I wish you success with Moondog Jr, soon to be playing in Holland.
SKC: yes.
JDK: And the new record will be out, and what's the title?
SKC: Everyday I Wear A Greasy Black Feather On My Hat.
JDK: Good title. Thank you for coming.
